A body has a velocity \( v \) at time \( t_1 \). No forces act on this body in the course of time, so that the resulting force is zero: \( F = 0 \). Since there are no forces acting on it, the body must, according to Newton's first law of motion, have the same velocity \( v \) at a later time \( t_2 \).
