LIFE:
Sleep without a pillow. Avoid vitamin B12 overdose. No more cell phone case and only 2 shorts.
August 29, 2023. By now, I had no problems sleeping without a pillow and dared to get rid of my pillow completely. My sleeping positions had also changed. I still preferred sleeping on my side or stomach, but the alignment of my arms, legs, and torso had changed. I changed my sleeping position more often, slept through the night, and woke up pain-free the next morning. By getting rid of the pillow, I also gave away my two black pillowcases. From now on, I never had to wash pillowcases again, and my new sleeping habit made me independent of a pillow to sleep well.
Then I browsed on Amazon. I bought short black toe socks after Lina convinced me of their benefits. Additionally, I ordered a one-centimeter thick, black yoga mat to replace my previous half-as-thick, blue yoga mat. I hoped that the thicker mat would not cause me any problems while sleeping on it. If I managed to spend the whole night rested on it, I could even take my bed, i.e., my yoga mat, with me everywhere on my shoulder. My current yoga mat was also too short to sleep on, and my bare feet touched the cold floor. The new black mat I ordered even insulated against the cold, making it suitable for cold winter days as well.
After that online shopping tour, I took a walk into town to look for the perfect pair of shorts that could serve as both swim trunks and summer shorts. I wanted to replace my somewhat too short, cyan-colored swim trunks and my Adidas shorts with a visible logo with a black, logo-free pair of shorts, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any.
When I got home, I met Vanessa in the kitchen, who was sick. I gave her my blueberries to strengthen her and then disappeared into my room to search online for the perfect pair of shorts. I actually found one and ordered it on Amazon. They were black, minimalist, and ended just above the knees. Additionally, they had a mesh lining on the inside, as is common with swim trunks, to avoid chafing. The shorts were quick-drying and logo-free. The mesh lining would spare me from wearing underwear in the summer, so I could even go swimming spontaneously without having to take off my underwear and stash it somewhere. I ordered two at once to replace my blue shorts, Adidas shorts, and swim trunks, combining three pieces of clothing into two.
Lying in bed, I continued to ponder and came up with the idea of getting rid of my phone case, which also served as my wallet. I took my smartphone out of the case and was amazed at how small and thin it was without the case. I decided to put the phone case in the giveaway corner in the room.
Then I hung my seasonal clothes, such as my rain jacket and sweater, on hangers and had the bottom of the two shelves of the clothes rack completely free. I put the winter hat on the top shelf.
In the kitchen, I disposed of my B12 vitamin supplement with a B12 content of 20,000% of the daily nutrient requirement. I resolved not to take such a large overdose unless expressly prescribed by a doctor or if I showed signs of deficiency. I thought at that moment: "If I only eat sugar, the bacteria that love sugar will dominate my microbiome. If I take too much B12, the bacteria that need B12 will dominate my microbiome. So, by overdosing, I might even create a B12 deficiency because the B12-loving bacteria would claim all the B12 for themselves."
Micro Changes:
- I no longer own a pillow. I have adapted to sleeping without one and am no longer dependent on it for a good night's sleep. This change means I no longer have to deal with the hassle of washing and drying pillowcases.
- I no longer use a phone case. The cards and cash that were previously in the wallet-like case are now stored in a designated compartment of my backpack.
- I have reduced the number of my shorts from 3 (including swim shorts) to 2 (including swim shorts).
- I do not take any supplements containing an excessive overdose of the daily nutrient requirement without a doctor's prescription.
