LIFE:

Hand instead of comb. Blue filter permanently on. Don't trim underarm hair? Eating a strawberry drink. Started learning to do the splits.

June 3, 2024. I woke up on the sofa around half past eight. I no longer feel any soreness in my feet, but the soreness in the front of my thighs is noticeably stronger.

First, I immediately implemented a sentence from Bryan Johnson that I heard in a video of his yesterday. He always uses the blue light filter on his laptop. So I turned on the NightShift feature on the MacBook and the iPhone permanently and set it to the highest level. The screen now looks a bit redder.

This ensures that the laptop and smartphone affect the circadian rhythm as little as possible. During the day, the daylight (and not the laptop or smartphone) will provide me with blue light to keep me awake. And in the evening, when the natural blue light is gone, I will get sleepy, no matter when NightShift activates on the laptop.

It wasn't good to turn on the blue light filter at a fixed time because that fixed time is arbitrary and has nothing to do with the circadian rhythm. Therefore, starting today, I have somewhat decoupled the influence of the laptop and smartphone on the circadian rhythm.

After getting up, I took a shower and washed my hair with cold water to promote circulation. A thought occurred to me: You often read on the internet that good blood circulation in the scalp is beneficial for the health of the scalp and hair. However, that is only a necessary condition for a healthy head. If I only eat bread and sugar, good circulation won't help me at all; it could even be harmful. High blood sugar would only feed the fungi on the scalp (e.g., in seborrheic eczema) even more and help them thrive. Therefore, I believe that good scalp circulation is only beneficial with a healthy diet. Alexander Fufaev styling his hair only with his hand

When I wanted to comb my hair after showering, I looked at my hand. Why don't I just use my hand to style and comb my hair? My hand may have only 5 bristles, but they are very flexible.

Additionally, I want to avoid something that I believe is not particularly healthy for the scalp: Combing removes flakes (like in seborrheic eczema) from the scalp, which serve as a protective barrier for the scalp while it heals underneath. The healing process slows down or may not happen at all if I scrape the flakes off with a comb. Using my hand as a comb would prevent that while combing. So I leave the comb here in Borsum and learn today to comb my hair without any tools, just with my hands. Fufaev combing his hair with his hand instead of a comb

I'm making breakfast - a cucumber and a carrot. Today is the first day of two weeks without eating bread or other gluten-containing products (like pasta). For breakfast, I sliced a cucumber and a carrot and drizzled them with a bit of flaxseed oil.

I'm sitting at the dining table. In front of me are two rolls. I'm craving that delicious whole grain roll in front of me. But after eating the cucumber with eggplant spread and the carrot, I feel full. But not as full as I did after eating bread, when I had a bloated stomach and could have kept eating endlessly. I had a light feeling in my stomach and didn’t want to eat any more cucumber. On the other hand, I could have eaten the bread just as it lay before me.

Mom came home and wanted white pasta for lunch, but instead, I cooked lentils with vegetables and tofu. Pasta contains gluten and pure carbohydrates, just like bread.

I watched a video from the channel "Raw Food Fanatic." I found it interesting what happened to Philip's armpit hair. If you shave your armpit hair regularly and then let it grow, it becomes very long. But what happened to him afterwards I find fascinating. Philip says that after some time, the armpit hair becomes short again (meaning the long hairs fall out and then short hairs regrow). I want to know if that will happen to me too, so I won’t trim my armpit hair. It would be great if it worked, because then I would never have to trim my armpit hair again.

Every time I see toast in the kitchen, I get such a strong desire to make myself some bread. Especially when I'm watching YouTube, my appetite is particularly large. Instead, I eat lentils with vegetables and watch all the videos from raw food fanatics, searching for inspiration beyond the usual.

In a raw food documentary, I saw that the raw foodist ate the strawberry stem (that green cap on the strawberry). That immediately fascinated me. I researched whether it’s healthy to eat the stem of the strawberry, and I found out that it is. The green cap on the fruit actually has more antioxidants than the fruit itself. And this way, I even avoid a bit of organic waste.

I watched Planet of the Apes: Retribution and then Resident Evil on TV after the laptop downtime started. That's the downside of watching TV compared to the cinema: The movies or shows never really end, and you keep watching endlessly until you can't anymore from exhaustion.

Today, I am grateful:

  • For not drinking coffee and that it has become easy for me to refrain from coffee.
  • For the idea of using my hand as a comb.
  • For Philip's experience from the "Raw Food Fanatic" channel, letting armpit hair grow long so it will later automatically become short again.
  • For successfully completing the first day without bread.
  • For starting to eat the strawberry stem today, increasing my antioxidant intake, and reducing my organic waste.

Micro Changes:
  • I no longer own a comb (and of course no hairbrush either). I use my hand to style and my fingers to comb. I hope this improves the health of my scalp.
  • I eat the strawberry stem to increase my antioxidants and reduce organic waste.
