LIFE:
Empty-Inbox-Method. Biowaste bin reduced in size. First aid kit minimized. Life without light is different.
3. November 2024.
I once woke up at 4:00 a.m. because I was dreaming. A beautiful woman who got naked for me. I was so surprised in the dream. Then, while walking together in a house, I came across another woman who was also naked. They were both standing in front of me and I looked at them in amazement. In the dream this was actually inappropriate, but I was so fascinated by their beautiful bodies and trimmed pussies that the three of us went into the bedroom. But afterwards I got jealous because they left to cuddle with other people. I was suddenly alone.
I was awake at 7:30 am. I had another dream. I was on the coast, cannonading into the open sea, shooting at a shipwreck and then a town. It looked like I was in a computer game. The windows were shattered and people were shooting out of the windows with guns.
Then there was a change of scene. A chase. I took off from an alien-like one. It was somewhere inside, a bit like a hospital. She kept catching me. I wasn't fast enough. And as soon as it caught me, there was its fight, which I always lost. Like in a game, the chase started again and again. I came up with the idea of throwing any objects in her way, such as chairs or shelves, while she was running to slow her down. But it didn't help.
Elli from Fluent Body reminded me about Ecstatic Dance next Thursday. I would take part again. Every time I came out of the class feeling like a new person. Afterwards, there were usually major changes in my perspective.
I've implemented another association-from-life idea, lets call it "Empty-Inbox-Method", that I wrote down in a notepad yesterday. I use Inbox-Zero-Method. In addition I deleted all 140 archived emails and will no longer archive the emails in the inbox. Why?
- I save myself the consideration of whether the email is important or not, and thus whether I should archive it or not. Usually, only the attachments in the email are important because they represent some documents. I download them directly and save them in the accounting folder. The corresponding email is deleted immediately.
- By using the Empty-Inbox-Method the email inbox is always empty. Therefore, the storage space can never be full.
- Data protection is significantly improved. If anyone were to gain access to the email address, that person or institution would only find an empty inbox.
Mother apologized for her behavior towards me and, after a conversation with me, even deleted all her social media accounts. We had a nice breakfast with the family.
In mother's garage, I found a smaller trash can. Perfect! I’ll take it home and replace the larger compost bin I currently have. I hardly have any organic waste anyway, so it won't sit in the big bin for long and start to mold.
A first aid kit should be available. However, the typical first aid kits, such as those for cars, are too stuffed, and you can feel overwhelmed when you open it and need to provide quick assistance.
I decluttered the first aid kit. Here’s what I kept:
- 2 wet wipes for cleaning wounds.
- Single-use gloves for sterile wound care.
- Compresses (for wound coverage and stopping bleeding) reduced from 3 to 1.
- Elastic bandages (for wound dressing) reduced from 4 to 1.
- Non-elastic bandages (dressings) reduced from 2 to 0. Elastic bandages are more versatile.
- Reduced the number of adhesive plasters.
- Eliminated the bandage and triangular bandage. I can’t use them anyway, and I can use a T-shirt instead.
- Of course, I keep the emergency blanket. It has a thousand uses: heat protection, emergency signal, wind and rain protection, water trough, ground cover, and so on.
- Removed the surgical face mask (I can use a cloth or T-shirt instead) and the bandage scissors (I already have a small pair of scissors).
I haven't owned a thermometer, painkillers, or other medications for a long time. Additionally, I’ve written possible uses on each package to remember them, as I don't practice first aid every day. I prefer to have less first aid equipment rather than too many items. Why?
- To avoid having to search for suitable materials because I have too many medical supplies.
- With too many different items, it’s easy to forget what each one is for. While I might have everything for every medical emergency, I can hardly use any of it. That’s not helpful.
- Instead of having a full first aid kit lying around at home, I’ve minimized it so that I can always take the medical supplies with me in the backpack and even provide medical assistance to myself or others while on the go.
It’s half past seven in the evening, and it’s already dark outside. The same goes for beeing inside. Turning on the light switch doesn’t help. It feels nice, just like my childhood in Russia. So this is what it looks like when I want to go to the bathroom at this hour: To pee in the dark, I use a flashlight.
Brushing teeth at the mirror doesn’t work so well. However, that doesn’t matter to me since I no longer need the mirror for that. I’ve gotten used to brushing teeth and using dental floss without a mirror.
I also can’t read a book in this darkness unless I use a flashlight or a candle. Fortunately, the phone lights up by itself. If it didn’t, I’d probably be tired already.
It’s still unusual to live without room light. But I know from experience that people can get used to anything and find it good. Two years ago, I would have never imagined having only two T-shirts. And now it’s the complete opposite: I can’t imagine having 14 T-shirts. Because of this adaptability, I prefer to adjust to a simple, sustainable lifestyle rather than a wasteful one.
Today I am grateful for:
- Decluttering the email inbox.
- Having a nice breakfast with the family.
- Finding a smaller trash can in the garage.
- Working intensively on the first aid kit, reducing it, and being able to use it even on the go.
