LIFE:
Frying without oil. Life without oils. No more chlorella. Temperature limit for walking barefoot. Rain poncho instead of rain jacket? Carlife instead of Vanlife?
November 4, 2024.
I woke up just before four again because I had a dream about sex. I think I've been dreaming about sex more lately because I'm in withdrawal from sex and masturbation. I woke up at 7:30am as usual.
Despite the lack of light in the room and the resulting earlier darkness at home, I didn't get tired any earlier than I expected. Even though I was in bed a little earlier, I couldn't fall asleep until 11pm. But that was probably because I was on the phone and then listened to a podcast about ultralight trekking.
The podcast inspired me to use a rain poncho instead of a rain jacket. It's much lighter than a rain jacket and much more compact, so it fits much better in your rucksack. The only thing I'm still skeptical about is what it's like in winter. When it's snowing heavily, the snow looks like rain and wearing a rain poncho in winter (still) seems a bit strange to me.
I won't be buying any more chlorella. It's expensive, tastes disgusting and doesn't seem to do anything for me except make me gag and create packaging waste.
The olive oil has run out and I have disposed of the bottle in the bottle bank. This means that from today, as decided on October 4, 2024, I will cook without oil and instead use flaxseed at the end of the cooking process, which provides omega-3 oils for the body. What I'm most looking forward to is that washing up the pan after cooking will be much easier - provided I don't overheat the food so that it doesn't burn. I see this as another advantage, as it forces me to fry on a low heat so that I don't unnecessarily 'burn' all the vitamins in the food. Many of them are not heat-stable. Other advantages:
- There is no glass waste, but paper waste (linseed instead of linseed oil). When shopping in a zero-waste store, there is no waste at all. It is impossible to buy refillable oils in Hildesheim.
- Linseed instead of linseed oil: The transportation of valuable omega-3 fatty acids is leak-proof (solid instead of liquid) and easier to transport (cloth bag instead of glass).
- Linseed is less processed than linseed oil and therefore more sustainable.
- The valuable omega-3 fatty acids last longer in seeds than in oils. The oils become rancid more quickly and therefore unhealthy.
Today was a new temperature point for barefoot walking. I'm on my way to the café and it's 6 degrees outside. The soles feel like I'm walking on needles. The 6 degrees could be the comfort limit for walking barefoot. So to be on the safe side, I take shoes with me now so that I can put them on at any time if it gets too cold.
In the café, I finished leafing through Precht's book on love. What I took away from it: Feeling = emotion + interpretation. So I can influence the feeling by interpreting it in different ways. And another interesting thing I learned is the misattribution. We can unconsciously transfer the excitement (e.g. triggered at a festival) to an active woman, as if this excitement comes because of the woman. It is therefore easier to fall in love in an exciting situation.
I then attended the Jobschmiede workshop on successful job hunting. I didn't even realize that the “vitamin B” method, i.e. finding a job through recommendations from friends at the employer, is the most successful method.
I have found a comb made of bamboo. This replaces the plastic comb.
I was wrong, by the way: 6 degrees is not the limit for walking barefoot. I just had to spend more time outside.
I want to try out living in a van next year. I've been thinking more about it and have been inspired by some people on YouTube, such as Viktoria Chernenko, who lived in a Golf 3. I probably wouldn't buy a van, but a minivan or even a car. I would save on fuel costs. It's much cheaper to buy and repair. Plus, I'd hardly have any problems finding a parking space.
I am grateful today:
- For understanding that I can shape feelings positively if I interpret them positively.
- For finding a bamboo comb.
- For the fact that the coffee table I used to use for dinner will finally be picked up on Wednesday.
