My name is Alexander FufaeV and here I write about:
Carnot Efficiency
Important Formula
What do the formula symbols mean?
Carnot Efficiency
$$ \eta_{\text c} $$ Unit $$ - $$
Carnot efficiency is the theoretical maximum efficiency achievable when converting thermal energy into mechanical energy.
Temperature
$$ \class{blue}{T_-} $$ Unit $$ \mathrm{K} $$
Lowest temperature that occurs during the process.
Temperature
$$ \class{red}{T_+} $$ Unit $$ \mathrm{K} $$
Highest temperature that occurs during the process.
The Carnot efficiency \( \eta_{\text c} \) is the theoretically maximum achievable efficiency in converting heat energy \( \class{blue}{Q_-} \) into mechanical energy \( |W| \):
$$ \begin{align} \eta_{\text c} ~=~ \frac{|W|}{ \class{blue}{Q_-} } \end{align} $$
$$ \begin{align} \eta_{\text c} ~=~ 1 ~+~ \frac{ \class{red}{Q_+} }{ \class{blue}{Q_-} } \end{align} $$
The Carnot efficiency is determined by the temperature differences between the two heat reservoirs and can be regarded as the upper limit for any reversible thermodynamic process between these reservoirs:
$$ \begin{align} \eta_{\text c} ~=~ 1 ~-~ \frac{ \class{blue}{T_-} }{ \class{red}{T_+} } \end{align} $$
