Isochoric Thermodynamic Process: How to Describe it with Amonton's Law
Important Formula
What do the formula symbols mean?
Pressure before
$$ \class{blue}{\mathit{\Pi}_1} $$ Unit $$ \mathrm{Pa} $$
Pressure of the ideal gas before the isochoric process. Isochor means that the volume of the gas has remained constant during the process.
Pressure after
$$ \class{red}{\mathit{\Pi}_2} $$ Unit $$ \mathrm{Pa} $$
Pressure of the ideal gas after the isochoric process.
Temperature before
$$ \class{blue}{T_1} $$ Unit $$ \mathrm{K} $$
Absolute temperature of the ideal gas before the isochoric process.
Note: The temperature in degrees Celsius must be converted to Kelvin unit!
Temperature after
$$ \class{red}{T_2} $$ Unit $$ \mathrm{K} $$
Absolute temperature of the ideal gas after the isochoric process.
Amonton's law describes the relationship between the pressure and temperature of a gas at constant volume:
$$ \begin{align} \frac{\class{blue}{\mathit{\Pi}_1}}{\class{blue}{T_1}} ~=~ \frac{\class{red}{\mathit{\Pi}_2}}{\class{red}{T_2}} \end{align} $$
